A Few Of My Favourite Things #3

So I’m back with my another beauty related post since I disappeared, and oh it does feel good! I’ve missed rambling on about makeup and planning out flatlays with lipsticks in the corner of my lounge – I’m just so pleased to be back and to have some motivation! If you’re wondering where I got to, this post will hopefully give you a bit of an insight… I started up ‘A Few Of My Favourite Things‘ before my brief hiatus and it’s something that I really enjoyed writing back then and would love to continue, so I thought what better beauty post to start with that this one. So let’s jump back into it… here’s a few of my current favourite things…

A Few Of My Favourite Things ColourPop Single Powdered Shadows Swatches emilyloula blog

ColourPop Pressed Powder Shadows > $5 Each

| Fire Fly – here | Liar, Liar – here | Made to Last – here |  Bel Air – here | Note to Self – here | Popular Demand – here | You Know The Drill | Milli | High Strung – here |

Buying individual eyeshadow pans to fill up my magnetic palette has become just short of an addiction for me. I just love how you can pick and chose, and avoid those shades that you get in a palette that you know you’re never going to use. All of the individual eyeshadow pans I own are Makeup Geek and I absolutely adore those – my full Makeup Geek Collection is here (although it does need to be updated..). I thought I’d give ColourPop’s pressed shadows a try, as I had heard good things.

I picked up 9 shadows, at $5 each, but they’re all currently on sale for $4. They have a nice selection of shades, including some of the brighter colours, but as I’m emily, I of course opted for the neutral shades. My favourites are made to last, popular demand and high strung but as I’m sure you can agree, they all look pretty beautiful from those swatches. I’m genuinely very impressed with the shadows, they’re extremely pigmented, but with minimal fallout, and just sit so lovely on my eyelids. I would have already more of these gorgeous shadows if I didn’t have to pay those pesky custom fees! Please bring ColorPop to the UK someone!!

A Few Of My Favourite Things Soap & Glory Brow Archery Review emilyloula blog

Soap & Glory Archery Brow Filling Pencil > £8.50

In the last few months I’ve decided that I’d really like to make a conscious effort to only buy Cruelty Free makeup from now on.  I will however continue to use up the products that I had already purchased as not to waste them. My favourite brow product recently was the Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil (£20) but since Benefit aren’t cruelty free, I couldn’t repurchase when it ran out. So, I had to raid my stash of products and try out something else. I picked up the Soap & Glory Archery pencil out of my drawer as it looked the most similar to my beloved Benefit one.

My first impressions were right, and whilst this isn’t exactly the same as Benefit’s version, its very damn close. This gives my brows a defined but natural appearance as you can pencil in each individual hair with the very defined tip. I absolutely love this and will definitely continue to use the two (?!) I found hiding in my drawers. I’ve read conflicting information to whether Soap & Glory are cruelty free – so if anyone has any details on this, I’d love if you could let me know, so I can figure out if I can repurchase this or not…!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara > £19.00

This mascara had been on my radar for quite some time, probably because it has the most bizarre name that I’ve ever seen from a mascara, but also because it has a huge following and hype surrounding it. I picked this up about 6 months ago when I found the Too Faced stand within Debenhams and have pretty much fallen in love with it since. I know that some people aren’t the biggest fan of this, but I feel like it works really well with my lashes. It personally gives me a really nice look – it coats all my individual lashes, lifts then and widens my eyes.

My only slight negative of this is that it tends to crumble and smudge slightly if left on for too long. This is great for a night out mascara, or to wear out for dinner for the evening, but if I’m planning on wearing mascara throughout the entire day, this isn’t one I would chose from my collection. I’m not one of those people that will put makeup on just to sit around the house, I’ll only apply it if I’m going somewhere with a purpose. Therefore this doesn’t bother me so much, and it’s definitely a mascara I’ll personally continue to use.

A Few Of My Favourite Things Better Than Sex Mascara Origins Vitazing Review emilyloula blog

Origins VitaZing Tinted Moisturiser > £30.00

A little while back, I ordered an Origins beauty box, as it featured a whole selection of their face masks, which are my ultimate favourites! If you haven’t tried them out yet, you definitely need to, especially Clear Improvements! Also included in the box was this VitaZing moisturiser, and if I’m honest, I completely disregarded it and forgot it even existed within my collection until about a month ago. I needed a tinted moisturiser that wasn’t too heavy on the skin to take with me on holiday to Gran Canaria, and I discovered that this would be absolutely perfect.

Since returning from my holiday, I have been wearing this as a base, every time I’ve put on makeup. It’s one of those products that comes out of the tube white, but adapts and changes to match your skin colour once you have started to rub it in. This has been perfect for me since when I was on holiday I was more tanned, and now, unfortunately I’m getting back to my usual, milky white complexion, yet it still looks great.  Since it’s only a tinted moisturiser, the coverage obviously isn’t all there, but it works beautifully to even out my skin tone, and adds a gorgeous glow which I’ve been absolutely loving. I’ve had so many comments on how good my skin looks whilst wearing this, and the fact that it combines a healthy glow, a moisturiser and SPF15 makes it perfect for daily wear in my opinion. Paying £30 for a tinted moisturiser isn’t something I’d thought I’d take lightly, but I would have absolutely no hesitations repurchasing this when it runs out – I love it that much.

A Few Of My Favourite Things Pomegranate Black Tea Primark Signature Collection Review emilyloula blog

Primark Pomegranate & Green Tea Eau De Perfume (100ml) > £8

A couple of weeks ago I popped into the fairly new Primark in Reading centre, to kill some time before my brow appointment, when I spotted a whole new range of fragrances in gorgeous packing. I tweeted how much the stand looked like Jo Malone here, got quite a good response from you guys and somehow my tweet made it into the Daily Mail last week!

I picked up the Pomegranate & Green Tea Perfume, as well as They’re described as unisex fragrances, and I would agree on this, I bought my boyfriend the spiced amber one, and he loves it, and my dad always compliments me on my fragrance too. The fragrances are something a bit different than you would expect from Primark, and I do think that they are based on Jo Malone’s scents, you know those more unusual, earthy and spiced scents that we’ve grown to love. The lasting power on these are also really impressive for the £8 mark and the packaging looks way more expensive. I think a little gift set you could put together from their various fragrances, hand creams and home scents would be lovely, and would look so much pricier than a Primark set usually would.

A Few Of My Favourite Things SHO YOUR Bottle emilyloula blog

YOUR Bottle! By SHO (500ml) > from £16.99

I drink a lot of water throughout the day, especially when I’m at work, so I’ve been after a new water bottle for a while, as my favourite Bobble Bottle was almost falling apart. On Amazon Prime day I saw these YOUR! bottles were discounted, and took the plunge and ordered one as they had such good reviews, and I’m so glad that I did. This is a vacuum insulated, double walled stainless steel bottle that is also 100% Leak Proof & BPA + Phthalate free. This claims to keep your hot drinks hot for 12 hours, and cold drinks cold for 24 hours. I haven’t actually tested mine out with hot drinks yet, as I’ve only been using it with water, but the keeping drinks cold part is definitely true.

I have such a bad habit of leaving half filled bottles of water in my car, then popping out to the shops or something, only to return to find that they’re SO warm, and the plastic bottle has been sweating, meaning I end up wasting a lot of water. I can leave this bottle in my car throughout the day in the high heat, and it will still be as cold as it was when I left it when I get back – perfect! It’s also got a lifetime guarantee which I think is amazing, so much so that I’ve actually already ordered a 1L bottle for my desk at work. I guess this sounds like an ad or something and it’s a bid odd to feature in my favourites, but honestly I’m not affiliated with SHO whatsoever, I just absolutely love these bottles!

So those are a few of my favourite things at the moment– what did you think? Have you tried anything I’ve mentioned in this post – or would you like to since reading? What’s your favourite new makeup product this month? As always, I’d love to have a read of your thoughts in the comments, and thank you so much for reading!
