If you’ve visited emilyloula before, it’s quite likely that you’ve already come across my subscription box addiction, but if not I’ll just warn you now… I honestly can’t get enough of them! So when I got an email from Clever Badger, who are a lovely little online shop featuring quirky and unique gifts and items, about their new subscription box – Badger Box*, I jumped at the chance to review it for you guys.
The Badger Box is a new subscription service containing a mixture of homewares, stationery, gifts, jewellery, greeting cards and anything in-between. Also included each month is an item that’s been specially commissioned for the box which I think makes it that little bit more exciting and unique. Like some other boxes on the market, each month the Badger Box has a different theme, with this month’s being the Great Adventures box.
When the Great Adventures Badger Box arrived, I was really excited to get into it and find out what goodies I’d be sent as I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The box itself had been decorated with some cute and branded stickers, so I knew exactly who the package was from, which is something I always like. Inside, the box was filled with these little stamps from various countries, as well as some brightly coloured tissue paper, cocktail umbrellas, decorations and lots of individual parcels. I think the stamps were a really nice touch, especially considering the theme of the box, and I loved that all the items had been individually wrapped in little bags or tissue paper, as it really felt like I was opening a little present to myself each time.
These little ‘Wish You Were Here’ & ‘Glad You Are Not Here’ postcards are my favourite part of the box, as I think they’re so unique, quirky and rather funny! My little sister is going away travelling next year, so I’ve given these to her to take along. She’s decided that she’s going to send the ‘Wish You Were Here’ card to our dogs, and the ‘Glad You Are Not Here’ to our younger sister, which should be quite comical when they arrive from Australia.
My sister has also nabbed the Travel Journal for her adventure and the world is your oyster badge for her backpack. I think the Travel Journal is the specially commissioned item in this box, although I can’t say for certain! It’s filled with all different types of pages, from lined, to plain, including little envelopes and pouches, so perfect for jotting your memories down, or holding on to keepsakes such as tickets or passes. It has a lovely, simple design, but feels really well made, perfect for someone who is going travelling that would like to have a physical momentum of their time away.
Some of the other items within the Badger Box include a hand designed window sticker, a pencil, a little bag of yummy sweets, a tea bag and this adorable card. I’m keeping hold of the little card, as I’m not sure quite who to give it to, or for what occasion just yet, but I really love the design of it so it will definitely be used at some point. ‘Slugs Are Merely Snails That Got Restless and Set Out For Adventures’
Overall, I really like the concept of the Badger Box, the items are so quirky and unique, and it’s unlike any other subscription box I’ve come across before. For me personally, it’s not a subscription I would take out on a permanent basis, but for a gift (whether to yourself or a friend) or a pick me up I think it’s a really lovely idea. I know that a few of my friends would be over the moon to receive this box, and it would be ‘right up their street’, so I think that this really depends on the kind of thing that you’re into. I love the fact that they have different themes each month, as you could really use this to get a great present for someone. For example, the Great Adventures box is perfect for someone going travelling, and their new 9-5 box would be great as a gift for someone who has started a new job. Now that I’m aware of The Clever Badger, their cute subscription service, and adorable online shop, I know that I’ll be picking up some gifts (for myself & others) from them in the near future.
The Badger Box is £16 for a rolling subscription, or £18 for a one off box, with a discount if you pay for more than one upfront. Shipping is free within the UK, which is always a plus, and they’ll post anywhere else in the world for just £4! If you fancy taking a look at the Clever Badger’s shop, it’s here, and you can find more information about the Badger Box subscription here.
What did you think of the Badger Box? Is this a box you’d consider subscribing to yourself, or sending as a gift? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments, and thanks for reading!
