Birchbox are my favourite beauty based subscription box available here in the UK, and a service that I have been signed up to for quite some time. Each month, subscribers will receive 5 personalised beauty samples, tailored to their on line profile for £12.95 (inc P&P), normally which fit around a theme. This month Birchbox’s theme is ‘Royally Good’, in celebration of the soon-to-be, newest member of the British Royal Family – a little Prince or Princess.
This month, Birchbox were kind enough to treat their subscribers to 5 beauty items, as well as a lifestyle item, which is always great to see. In April’s box I received;
- Bliss | Fabulous Foaming Face Wash
- Korres | Bergamot Pear Showergel
- Lola Barcelona | Nail Polish in ‘Garcia’
- Percy & Reed | Volumising No Oil Oil
- Laura Mercier | Kohl Eye Pencil in ‘Black Violet’
- Inner Me | Energise Me Capsules
Bliss | Fabulous Foaming Face Wash
Received 30ml Sample | RRP £19.50 for 197ml
This little bottle is said to be a dual-duty cleanser and exfoliator that can be used with all skin types. I’m not a big fan of foaming cleansers, as I find they strip my skin slightly, but this didn’t foam up much at all. It smells absolutely amazing, and gives a gentle cleanse and exfoliate without being too harsh. I’m definitely going to keep this for travelling as it’s a great dual product – perfect if you’re trying to pack lightly!
Korres | Bergamot Pear Showergel
Received 40ml Sample | RRP £8 for 250ml
“From the cult natural beauty brand, this sweet-smelling, aloe-packet body wash helps to hydrate skin”. I’m a fan of Korres, so it is nice to see something from them within this months box. I have a huge collection of travel sized shower gels, so this will be put with them. It smells amazing, and is from a great natural brand, so I’m definitely looking forward to using this when I next go away.
Lola Barcelona | Nail Polish in ‘Garcia’
Received Full Sized Item | RRP £7.50
If you’re a regular here at emilyloula, you’ll know that nail varnish isn’t really ‘my thing’, but I can’t deny that the colour is gorgeous. Lola have teamed up with Birchbox to create this limited edition varnish exclusive to subscribers, which is a lovely touch to this box.
Percy & Reed | Volumising No Oil Oil
Received 30ml Sample | RRP £14 for 60ml
Percy & Reed are a brand that I’m very fond of, and I always love trying out new things from them so I was excited to see this. The ‘Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil’ (phew) is said to tame hair without weighing it down. I have very thin, but quite long hair, which gets weighed down incredibly easily, making my hair look really flat and boring, so this is definitely up my street. I’ve read really great things about this, and everything I’ve tried from Percy & Reed before I’ve loved, so I’ve got high hopes for this
Laura Mercier | Kohl Eye Pencil in ‘Black Violet’
Received 0.8g Sample | RRP £17.50
Birchbox allowed their subscribers to pick from three Laura Mercier samples this month – a kohl eyeliner, a mascara or a foundation primer. I’ve tried both the other items from Laura Mercier, so I picked the eyeliner, which was sent out in the shade ‘Black Voilet’. I would say that the shade would be better described as just voilet, as there’s no black about it – it’s very intense. The eyeliner is incredibly soft, and doesn’t tug upon application – like most kohl liners. The shade is very pigmented, and once applied it’s not going to budge. I’m looking forward to using this to create a look that’s a little out of the norm for me.
Inner Me | Energise Me Capsules
Received Month Supply (28 capsules) | RRP £15
I was really happy to see Inner Me capsules within my Birchbox, as I’m a huge believer in vitamins and minerals. I received a 28 day supply, which contain a special blend of vitamins to help support energy metabolism and maintain overall good health. I take quite a few vitamins daily, so I’m looking forward to giving these a try to see if they make any difference – I’ll keep you updated!
Birchbox have impressed me again this month, and I will get use out of everything but the nail varnish so its been another good box for me. If you fancy signing up to Birchbox, you can use my link – here, which gives us both £5 to spend in the Birchbox shop. Every time you purchase a box, refer a friend or review an item you got in your Birchbox you get points, and these start to mount up really quickly. I recently spent over £60 of points in the Birchbox shop, so if you fancy a nosey at what I picked up, you can read that post here. You can also read any of my previous Birchbox reviews here
