If you keep up with my blog you will be well aware that I have a slight addiction to beauty subscription boxes. I absolutely love trying new products, and receiving samples of things I have always wanted to buy. So this month, when Birchbox landed on my door step, I was excited as ever.
This month’s theme was ‘Sun, Sea & Sand’, “celebrating glistening see views and those beautiful sandy beaches that evoke the warmest season of the year”. Summer is my favourite season by far so anything themed around this I am automatically drawn to!
My July Birchbox included the following;
- Balance Me, 7ml Sample – Wonder Eye Cream, RRP £20 for 15ml
- Models Own, Full Size – Nail Polish in ‘Roman Candle’, RRP £5
- Laqua & Co, Sample Size – Sheer Lip Tube Pencil in Menatour, RRP £14
- Benefit, Sample – The Porefessional, RRP £24.50 for 22ml
- Whish, 22ml Sample – Three Wishes Lavendar Body Butter, RRP £14.50 for 170ml
- Filosofille, Full Size – 4 Sided Nail Buffer, RRP £5
Balance Me, 7ml Sample – Wonder Eye Cream, RRP £20 for 15ml
I have a slight confession to make, in my whole life, I have never actually used any type of eye cream at all. It was only the other day, whilst reading other beauty blogs that I realised I probably should start. But I had absolutely no idea what type of eye cream to buy or what brand, so this little sample came at a perfect time. “A light, hardworking formula to brighten the eye area and keep wrinkles at bay”. As soon as I opened by Birchbox, I put this on straight away, it soaked into my skin really nicely and didn’t leave any greasy residue or shine. I’m going to try and add this cream into my daily routine and so far I really like it, I will keep you guys updated!
Models Own, Full Size – Nail Polish in ‘Roman Candle’, RRP £5
Another thing you will also be aware of if you keep up with my blog is that I really do not have ‘a thing’ for nail varnishes. I donate all of them to my sister, who now has a seriously large and growing collection. Models own is a well known brand for nail varnishes, and this purple glittery top coat would make a nice addition to anyone’s collection.
Laqua & Co, Sample Size – Sheer Lip Tube Pencil in Menatour, RRP £14
When I first opened my Birchbox, this was the first product that caught my eye. A purple lip lube? oooooo…. I don’t own any purple’y coloured lip products, nor have I ever tried one before. This is an example of the reason I absolutely love beauty boxes, I would never have picked up this shade of lip pencil in a shop, although I actually really love it. It has a slight minty smell, and is a really pigmented colour that has great nourishing properties. I’m not entirely sure when I would wear this, or what with, but I love it all the same.
Benefit, Sample – The Porefessional, RRP £24.50 for 22ml
This is my favourite item from my July Birchbox. When I was looking up what other people had got, I never saw this in anyone else’s box, so I definitely wasn’t expecting it. I have been looking to try this for a long time, but have never actually got round to buying it. I have rather large pores on my cheeks, especially around my nose and so far no pore minimising product has made any difference. I have read many many reviews for this product, and I’m seriously hoping that this works for me, as it supposedly has done for many others!
Whish, 22ml Sample – Three Wishes Lavendar Body Butter, RRP £14.50 for 170ml
I’m really lucky in the fact that I naturally have quite moisturised skin, and very rarely ever see dry patches. Although I know I should moisturise every day I never ever do, and the fact I don’t necessarily need to, add’s to my laziness. I have a huge bag full of tiny moisturisers and body butters like this so in all honesty I will probably not get round to using this for quite a while. On the Birchbox card it says “Not your Granny’s lavender – this sweet scented antioxidant-rich lotion nourishes skin”, which is actually very true. I am really not the biggest fan of lavender, but this smells different than what you would expect it to. I do like the smell and texture of this, so I’m sure people who regularly use body butter will love it, it’s just not for me.
Filosofille, Full Size – 4 Sided Nail Buffer, RRP £5
This product is Birchbox’s ‘Lifestyle Extra’. I love these little extra’s and I’ve had quite a few that I regularly use, such as eyelash curlers and cooling eye masks. As I mentioned earlier, I am not a nail product fan, so this also got donated to my sister. I get my nails done at a salon and pretty much constantly have fake nails, so this won’t really come in handy. This is a great product, just another one that’s not for me.
Overall, this month I am really happy with my Birchbox, although there is a couple of items I won’t use (but that’s purely because I’m fussy!), there is 3 items I am super impressed with. The eye cream, porefessional and lip lube pencil have all been added to my main makeup/skincare set and I’m excited to get to grips with all of them.
