Birchbox Review UK | October 2014

In the last month I have cancelled a lot of my beauty subscription boxes, but I couldn’t bare to part with my beloved Birchbox, so my subcritpion continued and October’s box landed on my doorstep ready for me to enjoy as always.

Birchbox UK Contents October

October is breast cancer awareness month, so Birchbox have teamed up with CoppaFeel to give you all of the information you need to spot any early signs and symptoms. Inside this month’s box is a huge fold out card with loads of details and tips, which I think is a really great addition, including a number you can text to get a free reminder to ‘CoppaFeel’!

My October Birchbox included;

  • Lollipops | Voyage À Paris Nail Polish
  • Kms California | Hair Play Playable Texture
  • Shaveworks | The Cool Fix
  • Pixi By Petra | Shea Butter Lip Balm
  • Balance Me | Cleanse And Smooth Face Balm
  • Birchbox | Lipstick Pen

LOLLIPOPS | VOYAGE À PARIS NAIL POLISH

Received Full Sized Item | RRP £7
If you are a regular here you will know that nail varnish just isn’t my thing but I can’t deny this is such a beautiful, beautiful red shade. It’s the classic timeless red that every girl needs in her collection.
Birchbox Lollipops Nail Varnish and KMS California

KMS CALIFORNIA | HAIRY PLAY PLAYABLE TEXTURE

Received 75ml Sample | RRP £15.50 for 150ml
I have very long, flat hair – so anything that can give my hair that added bit of texture is very welcomed here! This smells really great and doesn’t weigh my hair down at all, which is something that I often have an issue with. This can be used on wet or dry hair to prep, style or set your finished look- now who doesn’t love a multi-functional product?!

SHAVEWORKS | THE COOL FIX

Received 29ml Sample | RRP £20 for 156ml
Shave Works isn’t a brand that I’ve heard of before, but I think the concept of this gel is so great and is definitely something I will get use out of. It’s a cooling gel lotion that can be used to treat ingrown hairs, razor bumps and redness after hair removal. It smells really nice and fresh and soaks into the skin so nicely without leaving any residue. I haven’t actually had a need to use this yet but my first impressions are really good – plus the packaging is really cute!

BALANCE ME | CLEANSE AND SMOOTH FACE BALM
Birchbox The Cool Fix and Balance Me

BALANCE ME | CLEANSE AND SMOOTH FACE BALM

Received 40ml Sample | RRP £20 for 125ml
I was really excited to see a product from Balance Me in this months box as they are quickly becoming one of my favourite skin care brands. Everything I have tried so far has been great, and this cleanse and smooth balm is no exception. I love how this is applied to your face when dry – the thick formula effortlessly removed my makeup, leaving my skin feeling cleansed and smooth.
Birchbox Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm

PIXI BY PETRA | SHEA BUTTER LIP BALM

Received Full Sized Item | RRP £8
I always love receiving lip balms as you can literally never have too many lying around, in different handbags and various jacket pockets. This is a super moisturising tinted lip balm containing shea butter, it feels amazing on my lips and I really enjoy using it. I received the colour ‘Honey Nectar’ which is a gorgeous, natural nude colour which can be used daily.

BIRCHBOX | LIPSTICK PEN

Received Full Sized Item | RRP £2.50
I think this is a really cute addition to this month’s box and is perfect to pop into my handbag – you just never know when you may need a lipstick pen!

Birchbox October UK ExtrasAgain, Birchbox has impressed me with this month’s box – from the ‘Work It’ theme and the CoppaFeel collaboration and the amazing range of products I received. I know I will use everything in this box – minus the nail varnish, but my sister has already claimed that! The pink pouch is perfect to hold the various make up items I keep in my car and is a nice change to the normal Birchbox draw string bag.

If you fancy signing up to Birchbox you can do so by clicking HERE. By using my link we both get £5 to spend in the Birchbox shop – which has some really great bits!

What do you think of this months Birchbox? Do you think I was right to keep my subscription?

This box was great. I wish I got the nail varnish though! I don’t like the hair product at all, I probably won’t sue it.

  • At first glance I wasn’t a massive fan of this month’s Birchbox as the products I recieved weren’t really what I would go for – however I guess Birchbox is all about getting us to try new things! I have managed to get to use some of the products though and I am in love with the lip balm – as you said, you can’t ever have too many lip balms! 🙂
