Christmas Gifts with George Secret Santa

Somehow, it’s the 1st December already, and as Christmas is quickly approaching, I thought there would be no better way to start off this festive month on emilyloula, than by showing you guys what I got in my #GeorgeSecretSanta parcel. A few weeks ago, I was asked by Talent Talkers, if I wanted to be involved with a Bloggers Secret Santa that they were putting together with George, ASDA. One of my favourite things about Christmas is actually shopping for others and buying gifts – I just really enjoy choosing the presents I think other people would enjoy, so this idea sounded right up my street!

Christmas Gifts George Secret Santa emilyloula beauty blog

The concept was pretty simple; each blogger was provided with the name and website address of another blogger, and told to have a peek, or a ‘stalk’ into their social media accounts, and blogs to find out the type of gifts they’d like to receive.

The hard working elves at Talented Talkers did all of work in the gifting process for us, by wrapping up and posting the gifts – all we had to do was pick the presents – easy right? Wrong! George’s Christmas Shop had such a great variety of gifts that I genuinely spent a few hours searching for the perfect presents for my Secret Santa partner. There were so many bits I wanted to choose, but in the end I settled on 7 gifts with a range of different items that I really hope she loves! I’m keeping my eye out for her blog post, as I can’t wait to see if she likes the items I picked out for her – fingers crossed!

After sending away the list of gifts I had chosen, I patiently waited for my #GeorgeSecretSanta parcel to come through the door, and when it finally did I was so excited to open the presents that I totally forgot to take photos of them all wrapped up and Christmassy – oops!

The gifts I received from my George Secret Santa;

  • Maybelline | Nude Perfection Gift Set
  • Eco Tools | Festive & Flawless Brush Set
  • Baylis & Harding | Sweet Mandarin & Grapefruit Tin of Treats
  • George Home | Christmas Microplush Throw
  • Yankee Candle Simply Home | Large Jar in ‘Merry Berry’

Maybelline | Nude Perfection Gift Set > RRP £15

Eco Tools | Festive & Flawless Brush Set > RRP £9

Maybelline are probably my favourite cosmetics brand in the ‘drugstore’ at the moment as there’s so many items I use from them on a daily basis, so I was really excited to see this Nude Perfection Gift Set from my Secret Santa. The trouble I usually have with makeup gift sets is that I tend to only use a few things from the set, and the rest remain unused and I end up forgetting about them or giving them away myself. However, this set from Maybelline is very different in my eyes, and I will actually use each item within the gift set – I really think it’s a great selection of products!

There are three different gift sets available from Maybelline this Christmas at George ASDA, but this ‘Nude Perfection’ set is my favourite of the bunch, so my Secret Santa chose well! The set features a Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow, a Brow Drama Sculpting ‘Mascara’,  a Color Sensational Lipstick & a Color Show Nail Lacquer. I absolutely love the Colour Tattoo Eyeshadows and use them all of the time (full review & swatches of my collection are here), and the BrowDrama is a product I use everyday to shape my brows so I’m grateful to have a backup! The lipstick comes in the gorgeous nude shade of ‘Tantalising Taupe’, which is really pigmented but has a lovely nourishing honey nectar formula. The final product in the set is the nail varnish, which again matches the nude theme, coming in the shade Latte which is perfect for every day wear. I think this is a lovely gift, and one that I was really happy to receive, and at £10 currently at ASDA it’s such a bargain – I’m trying to think who I could buy another one for as a Christmas gift!

Somehow, I don’t actually own any travel sized makeup brushes, or any makeup brushes from Eco Tools at all, so my Secret Santa picked perfectly again with this Festive & Flawless 5 Piece Brush Set. I’ve heard great things about Eco Tools and their brushes, so I’m really looking forward to giving these a go, especially as they’re so soft! The set contains a flat concealer brush, a buffing concealer brush, a precision foundation brush,  a complexion blending brush and a fluffy powder brush. There’s a great selection of complexion brushes here, which would either be a great starting point for someone getting into makeup, or like me they make perfect brushes for travelling or keeping in my handbag. For £9 I think it’s a lovely little present, and would definitely make a great stocking filler for a beauty lover this Christmas.

Christmas Gifts George Secret Santa emilyloula beauty blog Baylis & Harding Throw Merry Berry Yankee Candle

Baylis & Harding | Tin of Treats > RRP £12

Yankee Candle Simply Home | Large Jar in ‘Merry Berry’ > RRP £13

George Home | Christmas Microplush Throw > RRP £6

Baylis & Harding are a great brand, and this Sweet Mandarin & Grapefruit Tin of Treats was another lovely pick from my Blogger Secret Santa. It contains a Balancing Body Wash, Luxury Shower Crème and Indulgent Moisturising Hand & Body Lotion, all of which have the same, gorgeous and uplifting Mandarin & Grapefruit scent. The products are all full sized and are housed within a gorgeous golden tin – absolutely perfect for the festive season, and at only £8 at the moment, I think it’s a total bargain!

The final two gifts I received from my Secret Santa were a beautiful scented Yankee Candle & a snuggly Christmas throw. As the months get colder I like to cover my bed in various different blankets and throws to keep me warm at night, so I was happy to welcome another throw into the mix. This one is incredibly soft and really snuggly, surprising when these only retail for £6! Next time I pay a visit to ASDA I’ll be sure to check out what other designs they have as these would definitely make a great Christmas present for someone that loves to get all cosy in the Winter evenings!

As soon as I opened my #GeorgeSecretSanta package, the most incredible berry scent hit me, and I knew straight away there must be a candle hidden away within the wrapping paper somewhere. I was delighted to pull out a Large Yankee Candle in the scent Merry Berry, which I had actually been eyeing up on my recent trips to ASDA. Yankee Candles are definitely one of my favourite brand of candles, and berry scents are also a firm favourite, so  yet again my Secret Santa hit the nail on the head with this pick. Everyone in my house has complimented the scent of this gorgeous candle, which is described as ‘a spirited, spiced blend of sweet red berries’ – it’s become one of my favourites already!

line-break-dots

To whoever my Secret Santa was – a big thank you – you’ve done a great job in picking out some fantastic presents for me! Also, thanks to the hard working elves at Talent Talkers for setting up the #GeorgeSecretSanta – it was such a fun thing to be involved with!

Are there any gifts here that you’d like to give to someone this Christmas (maybe even yourself!) ? Did you like what my Secret Santa picked up for me? What would you have chosen? As always, I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments, and thank you so much for reading!
