Cohorted May Beauty Box Review

I had seen previous reviews for the Cohorted Beauty Boxes and to say the contents within them were impressive, would be an understatement. I knew I had to get my hands on May’s box, and as you can tell, I did, but it took me a good twenty minutes of refreshing their website to get hold of one. They were so popular that the website kept crashing and I know that a lot of people were unfortunately left disappointed as there were only a very limited number of boxes available. After getting the box this morning I can safely say that May’s Cohorted Beauty Box is the best box I have ever received, with the contents worth over £92!

May’s Cohorted Beauty Box contained;

Too Faced Exotic Color Eyeshadow in ‘Poison Orchid’
Dolce & Gabbana Lace Nail Lacquer in ‘Perfection’
Cargo Eyeshadow Palette Vintage Escape
Michael Kors Lip Lacquer in ‘Dame’

Too Faced Exotic Color Eyeshadow in ‘Poison Orchid’

RRP £15
Even though I have a wishlist as long as my arm for them, I haven’t actually tried anything from Too Faced yet so I was really excited to see this within the Cohorted box. I received the shade ‘Poison Orchid’ which looks like a really bright but magical purple in the pan, but once applied it’s very different. As eyeshadow’s go, this isn’t particularly pigmented, but I don’t think that is the purpose with this shade. It applies as a deep, almost navy base with the most gorgeous two toned purple shimmer over the top which steals the show. In the pan I didn’t think this would be a shade I would get any use out of, but once swatched it gives such a beautiful effect, that is unlike anything else I own. The shade of this really doesn’t come across in the photos, it was so hard to capture it’s ‘true beauty’ but honestly it’s gorgeous! I’m super excited to try some daring, evening looks with this eyeshadow.

Dolce & Gabbana Lace Nail Lacquer in ‘Perfection’

RRP £19
When I saw the Dolce & Gabbana box sitting amongst the tissue paper in this month’s box, I got very, very excited! They are yet another brand that I haven’t tried any beauty items from so to see them within Cohorted’s box was great for me. After countless years of new year resolutions, I have finally stopped biting my fingernails last month and they are really starting to grow so I can actually paint them now! For this reason, I was actually pleased to see a nail varnish within a beauty box, especially when it was such a gorgeous shade like ‘Perfection’. This is the perfect nude everyday nail varnish, that applies really easily and dries a lot quicker than the majority of polishes I’ve previously tried. Retailing at £19, this is a really generous nail varnish to see in a beauty box, and one that I’m absolutely smitten with – I know I’m going to get a lot of use out of this – thanks Cohorted!

Cargo Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Vintage Escape’

RRP £35
The most exciting item in this month’s Cohorted box for me is the Cargo Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Vintage Escape’. When I saw a full sized eyeshadow palette within the box, I was very pleasantly surprised, and even more so when i opened it! I’m often fussy with eyeshadows and usually within a palette I won’t get any use out of around half of the shades, but that really won’t be the case with this. It contains 12 shades of neutrals, smokey browns and smooth charcoals, with a mixture of creamy matte and shimmers. The quality of the shadows is honestly outstanding, they’re so pigmented but creamy and blendable at the same time. The outside of the palette is covered with a brown leather, and feels really good quality. It’s heavy and stable, and inside it’s fully solid without any of the cheaper foam inserts. Included is also a really nice good quality dual ended brush with a shader and slanted liner, which makes a lovely change to those cheap applicators often found in other palettes. I honestly can’t believe a £35 eyeshadow palette was included in this months Cohorted box, you’d never find that in the likes of Glossybox!

Michael Kors Lip Lacquer in ‘Dame’

RRP £23.50
As a self confessed lipstick addict, I was extremely happy to see a full sized Michael Kors Lip Lacquer in Cohorted’s box. Described as a ‘Luminous Plum’ shade, ‘Dame’, gives you a long lasting pop of colour with a high gloss finish. In the bullet ‘Dame’ looks quite intimidating but it’s a lot less scary once applied as it’s not opaque, and more of a sheen. It contains tiny flecks of sparkle that in turn give off such a gorgeous glossy shine providing a really unique, but lovely finish. I absolutely love the packaging of this lipstick, and it’s another item from this box that I know I’ll get a lot of use from.

I can’t express how happy I am with this month’s Cohorted box. It’s contents is worth over £92, which is incredible considering I paid £20 (+ P&P) for the box itself. I’m going to get use out of every product in this box, which is a rarity for me, and I’m really looking forward to getting a grips with these new items! These Cohorted boxes are one off purchases so they aren’t necessarily a subscription box, but if you want to pick one up I would highly suggest setting a reminder on your phone for June’s release (1st June @ 6PM BST) – I already have!

What do you think of this month’s Cohorted box? Would you consider picking up one of their boxes?
