Glossybox a beauty monthly subscription box, it RRP’s for £10 a month + P&P. I originally signed up a couple of years ago, but I cancelled my subscription late last year due to generally not being too impressed. In the recent months I have been looking for a reason to start my subscription up again, when I noticed Glossybox were advertising the May box as having 4/5 full size products in it, this caught my attention and I renewed my subscription straight away. Glossybox had also advertised that they were teaming up with a ‘iconic beauty brand’ for this month’s box, I couldn’t think who it could be at all (oblivious I know!), until I received my box and it became very obvious! I absolutely adore superdrug, I spend a lot of time browsing their website and I will 9/10 times pop into a store if I walk past one, regardless of if I need anything or not. The fact that glossybox and superdrug had teamed up was very exciting for me!
In my box this month, I received the following;
> B. Complete (Full Sized) Long-Lasting Nail Polish RRP £4.99 for 8ml
> Scholl (Full Sized) Velvet Smooth Overnight Mask RRP £7.99 for 60ml
> I love Cosmetics (Full Sized) Strawberries & Milkshake Shimmer and Shine Lipgloss RRP £1.29 for 15ml
> Collection (Full SIzed) Bronze Glow Mosaic RRP £2.99
> Blow Pro (45m samplel) After Blow Strong Hold Finishing Spray RRP £11.99 for 283ml
> Garnier (10ml sample) Oil Beauty Lotion RRP £4.99 for 250ml
> GHOST (2ml sample) Fragrance – Eclipse RRP £33 for 50ml
When I first opened my Glossybox and saw that it was Superdrug that they had teamed up with, I was very excited! That was until I opened my box and took a look inside, nothing caught my eye particularly and I have to admit I wasn’t that impressed…
B. Complete (Full Sized) Long-Lasting Nail Polish RRP £4.99 for 8ml
Yet again another nail varnish for me (or for my sister!) Every subscription box I have received this month has contained a nail varnish, so my sister is very happy! I understand that the majority of people that subscribe to beauty boxes are very happy with nail varnishes, and it just me being fussy with my horrible nails, so I am not complaining! I am not really sure what this colour is meant to be, it didn’t say on the product card I received with my glossybox, and I couldn’t find this colour online at superdrug. It kind of looks like a rusty metal colour but I’m not 100% sure! I’ve never heard of this brand before, but after a quick google I’ve noticed that they have a whole range of makeup and skincare items. They have a couple of eyeshadow palettes which I may take a look at later on, when I order my next haul from superdrug!
Scholl (Full Sized) Velvet Smooth Overnight Mask RRP £7.99 for 60ml
This is my second foot related product I have received in beauty boxes this month (another in May’s lovemebeauty box), this is more my “kind of thing”, as it requires little effort! The instructions state “apply & massage on clean & dry feet before going to bed. Works and absorbs like a cream. No rinsing required”. I am definitely going to give this a go when it starts to get warmer and the sandles will be coming out to play. It seems like a great idea to prepare your feet for the summer with minimal effort, Scholl is also a very well known brand so I expect nothing less than good things from this little tube!
I love Cosmetics (Full Sized) Strawberries & Milkshake Shimmer and Shine Lipgloss RRP £1.29 for 15ml
Unfortunately, I wasn’t very impressed with this lipgloss, don’t get me wrong it smells amazing, but it just reminds me of the type of cheap lip gloss you would buy with your pocket money to start your makeup collection when you’re 10 (sorry!!). It does have a nice shimmer to it and the colour is quite pretty, a nude pink, however, its really sticky and “tacky”, which is what has put me off of a lot of lip glosses before. I have used the “I love” brand before, but only for bodywash, which is lovely and smells great, but as a lipgloss it’s not really a product for me. This will be donated to my 11 year old sister and hopefully she will enjoy it!
Collection (Full SIzed) Bronze Glow Mosaic RRP £2.99
This was probably my favourite item from my glossybox this month, I fell in love with the mosaic pattern as soon as I saw it, I think it’s so beautiful! I’ve been looking into buying a new bronzer recently, but I really don’t know where to start. I’ve been using my “bareMinerals warmth all-over face colour” as a bronzer for a while now, don’t get me wrong it works perfectly, I have just been looking into trying something different, so this beautiful bronzer came at just the right time. I have to say, it’s not much of a pigmented colour, and it does take quite a while to get a bit of product on your makeup brush. I don’t think I would buy this bronzer again for those reasons, but I will definitely be keeping this one to use as and when I feel like it. I am still on the look out for a new bronzer so if you have any recommendations please leave me a comment!!
Blow Pro (45m samplel) After Blow Strong Hold Finishing Spray RRP £11.99 for 283ml
“Don’t let the English weather make your hair-do a hair-don’t with blowpro’s strong hold finishing spray. It conditioners while it sets to provide you with a superwoman-esque super-hold on your hair!”
I have very long thin hair which means whenever I try to style it it tends to drop out because of the weight, and is often very flat and lifeless. I am hoping that this will bring some much needed ‘oomph’ to my hair and keep it in place without tangling it up. It smells very fresh and I am definitely looking forward to using it
Garnier (10ml sample) Oil Beauty Lotion RRP £4.99 for 250ml
This is the second sample of this that I have received this year from subscription boxes, I think I received one in my April 2014 Birchbox, but I’m not 100% sure it was definitely that box. This oil is specifically for dry skin, which is something I have never suffered from. I have a collection of little sample sachets like this which I’m sure will come in very handy one day, but for the mean time I simply have no use for it.
GHOST (2ml sample) Fragrance – Eclipse RRP £33 for 50ml
I always enjoy a perfume sample in my beauty boxes as I am always on the look out for a new “signature scent”. The last perfume sample I received was Katy Perry’s Killer Queen, which I loved so much I went out straight away and bought the full sized bottle. I had a GHOST perfume when I was a lot younger, but I have no idea which one it was at all! Eclipse is a “fruity floral fragance” for women that was launched this year. As you can see from the picture the top notes are “romantic” including lemons and blackcurrants which a heart of rose and blond wood. This is a really great smelling perfume, perfect for summer days and light evenings.
In general, I have to admit that I am not too impressed with this months glossybox. I really wanted to be impressed, as I do love superdrug and glossybox as a whole, but this combination didn’t work so well in my box. I have had a look at some other reviews and blogs and people seem to have got much better versions of the box that me! Including some lovely lip sticks, mascaras and primers. I have to admit I am a bit jealous! My beauty boxes this month have been a bit of a hit and miss. It seems that glossybox have chosen to use full size products this month instead of quality products. Hopefully next month will be better, but only time will tell! If you haven’t signed up to glossybox yet, you can do so here.
