I personally really like reading empties post, because by the time someone has finished a product they usually have a really good idea of what it’s all about. You get to read a snappy review and ultimately get to find out whether they liked it enough to spend their hard earned money on it, again. So here’s my first empties post, of the products I’ve used up over the last couple of weeks, beauty, skincare and hair care related.
RITUALS | REFRESHING FACIAL TONER
I originally bought this toner whilst at Rituals ‘Indulgent Shopping Evening’ in collab with Glossybox (you can read that post here), and fell in love immediately. Since then I have tried many other toners, but I keep going back to this one. It contains Lotus Flower & Moringa Extract which gives a lovely soothing scent and as the name suggests it’s very refreshing to use, both in the morning and evening after my cleansing routine. It has a pump, which I always love as it saves wasting product as is much easier to dispense on a cotton pad. This toner works really well with my skin, leaving it feeling clean, soft and supple.
RITUALS | YIN CALMING BED & BODY MIST
Another item from Rituals, which was also purchased at their shopping evening is their gorgeous bed and body mist. I fell in love with this scent as soon as I smelt it, as the name suggests it really is calming and perfect for spritzing over your pillow at bed time. I had actually forgotten I had bought this until recently, but once I remembered I found that I used it up very very quickly. I feel like it was quite expensive for the amount of product you get, so this is the only reason I wouldn’t re-purchase. The smell is absolutely gorgeous though so if you’re looking for a new bed mist I would definitely recommend this for that alone.
L’OREAL | SKIN PERFECTION MICELLAR WATER
Often when I get in late at night I just want to curl up and go to sleep and not think about taking my makeup off, and that’s where this little gem comes in. If you haven’t tried a micellar water of some kind you are indeed missing out. A drop of this on a cotton bud, a quick wipe over my face, and my makeup is gone, it even works on waterproof mascara! It doesn’t have any funny scent or feel harsh on my skin, it literally feels like water but with some magical abilities. This is my third bottle of this, and I will definitely be continuing to purchase for a long time yet!
GARNIER | ULTIMATE BLENDS SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER
I have been using this shampoo and conditioner duo for nearly a whole year now which is really something for me. You can see I mentioned this back in , you can see that post here, so it really has been a firm favourite of mine for a long time. The duo is super moisturising yet it doesn’t weigh my hair down at all. The conditioner is especially great at untangling my hair and leaves it smooth and smelling amazing. I specifically use the Colour Illuminator version of this as I am constantly dying my hair and I really feel like this does prolong my hair colour but there are lots of different types including ‘The Nourishing Repairer’ & ‘The Silky Smoother’
REPURCHASE? Yes – I have a few bottles stashed away from when they were on offer!
NIP + FAB | DRAGON’S BLOOD CLEANSING PADS
After reading Gemma’s post about these cleansing pads over on Miss Makeup Magpie, I knew I had to get them. She was definitely right (as always!), as these pads are genuinely amazing, they contain witch hazel, salicylic and hyaluronic acids which is really great for my blemish prone skin and huge pores. The pads are nice and moist so they aren’t scratchy at all on the skin and they genuinely feel like they calm my skin as I am using them.
HER | REVITALISING HAIR TREATMENT
I received this hair mask in my June You Beauty Discovery box (post is HERE), but I had so many hair masks to get through, I only managed to finish this up this month. I really enjoyed using this hair mask, it really did help to nourish my hair and made it feel manageable and soft. However, at £30 for a 200ml pot it’s definitely on the pricier end of the scale, and I do think you can get better hair treatments for a lot cheaper.
MAX FACTOR | FACEFINITY ALL DAY PRIMER
I used Max Factor’s FaceFinity Primer pretty much every single time I put a full face of makeup on in 2014. This is either my third or fourth bottle and I have already purchased my next one. I’ve tried many many primers but this one takes the crown, it keeps my makeup on all day, and for £11 it’s a complete steal.
REPURCHASE? Yes – I have already!
BENEFIT | THEY’RE REAL LINER
Now, this eye liner is without a doubt the best I have ever tried. It stays on forever (just like the They’re Real Mascara), and it gets as close to my lash line as I think is physically possible. However, I don’t know if I’m storing this wrong but this is my third one and all 3 have dried out super quickly. Since they are £18.50 a pop it’s a too pricey for me for something that lasts less than a month before it’s unusable – boooo
REPURCHASE? No – Unfortunately
BOURJOIS | HEALTHY MIX FOUNDATION
Another product that I have used the majority of 2014 is my beloved Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. I began using this at the beginning of last year and I just haven’t looked back. This gives me a lovely medium coverage, but it can be built up to be full coverage without it looking cakey. Bourjois’ shades seem to match my skin perfectly, and this foundation gives me a lovely healthy glow. I’ve lost count on how many bottles I have bought of this, in different shades depending on the time of the year, and I will definitely continue using this on a nearly daily basis!
REPURCHASE? Yes – Again, I have already!
So that’s it for my first lot of empties, let me know if you’ve tried any of these products before and if you would repurchase them yourself!
