This month Glossybox turned three years old, and to celebrate they bought out a special ‘Stars and Stripes’ themed box. It has been specifically designed to bring their customers American brands that we love over here in the UK. When I found out the theme of this box, earlier this month, I was super excited to receive some American goodies.
In July’s Glossybox I received;
- Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd, Mineral Lipstick, Full Sized : RRP £20
- ABSOLUTE New York, Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer, Full Sized : RRP $4.99/£3
- Carmex, Lip Balm, Full Sized : RRP £2.69
- Color Club, in ‘Glossy Seal’, Full Sized : RRP $8/£4.50
- NYC New York Color, High Definition Felt Tip Liner, Full Sized : RRP £2.99
This is definitely my favourite item from July’s Glossybox. If you read my blog you will be aware that I absolutely love lip products, so to see a full sized higher end lipstick in my box made my day. Guarenteed in every box this month is one of these gorgeous lipsticks, which come in one of three colours, either a red, orange or pink shade. I luckily got the pink shade which was the one I was rooting for and it’s absolutely beautiful. I have worn this lipstick every day since I received it and have had a couple of lovely compliments! It also smells delicious!
ABSOLUTE New York, Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer, Full Sized : RRP $4.99/£3
I am a big fan of eyeshadow primer’s, a good one can make such a difference to how your eyeshadow looks and how long it stays on for. However, I have to say I really didn’t like this primer at all- the consistency was so weird – way too sticky! Maybe this would be good to keep glitter eyeshadow on, so I’ll have to try that, but as first impressions go, I’m not very impressed!
I’m pretty sure most people have tried some sort of Carmex lip balm in their time, and I am definitely one of these people. I have a LOT of unopened lip balms in a box (including a couple of Carmex’s), so I donated this one to my mum. It’s such a well known brand and a great product for dry and chapped lips.
Color Club, in ‘Glossy Seal’, Full Sized : RRP $8/£4.50
As I say every single time I receive a nail varnish in a subscription box, “this will get donated to my sister”. Nail varnishes just aren’t “my thing”. I get my nails done at the salon and rarely ever re-paint them at home, but my sister has a huge collection of nail varnishes, which I regularly add to. This colour is a lovely blue, and has been specifically formulated for Glossybox which makes it extra special!
Eyeliners are definitely one of my makeup staples, I feel slightly naked without any on as I’m so used to it after years and years of wear. My favourite eyeliner currently is the benefit’s they’re real push up liner, (you can read my review here), but I am always open to trying new ones. The tip is soft and draws a really good thick black line, perfect for doing the beloved cat flicks.
Overall, I’m not super impressed with this month’s Glossybox, there was only one higher end brand and that was the Bellapierre lipstick (which I do LOVE). I was glad that all 5 items were makeup based, and there was no skin care items. I have a LOT of skin care items lying around that haven’t been in touched. Other than the lipstick, none of the other items really excited me and I thought that this theme would have been better executed. I did love the packaging and thought that was really nicely done – but the contents just didn’t blow me away.
