Since starting my job, and working long 12 hour shifts, I’ve become a huge fan of having a pamper night in. I love to just unwind, relax and have a bit of ‘me’ time after a long day, and I don’t think there’s a better way to do this, than to have a good old pamper. If you haven’t had a bit of ‘me’ time recently, I would definitely recommend giving it a go, it honestly gives me a whole lease of life.
To kick off my pamper evening, I love to light some candles to set the atmosphere and play some of my favourite music. I’ll either use my wireless headphones or my Bluetooth speaker for the music – my speaker is particularly handy for a pamper night as it’s waterproof so I can take it into the bath! I’m a huge fan of candles and have a fair few dotted around my rooms as well as a huge collection of wax melts but for an evening in I like to have something soothing. These Yankee Candles in Fluffy Towels* smell absolutely incredible and are perfect for a pamper session. They fill the room with such a fresh, clean scent, just like freshly washed towels, funny enough, and make me feel like I’m in a spa. An interesting stack of magazines are always a good choice to help you unwind, or maybe a Netflix binge session, – yes Orange Is The New Black, I’m looking at you…
Next up, I’ll get out a face mask and a hair mask to apply before getting into the shower or bath. I have fairly long hair, which is quite dry and damaged due to years of dyeing it various colours, so a hair mask is a definite for me during my pamper night. My favourite at the moment, is My Little Beauty’s Repairing Mask which I got in my My Little Dream Box back in April. This mask has a much thicker, more balm like, consistency which is unlike any other hair mask I’ve tried. It contains walnut oil, and shea butter, meaning it not only does great things for my hair, but it smells incredible too. Another few of my favourite hair masks I’ve used include TGI’s Bed Head, No4’s Reconstructing Masque & the Macadamia Oil Extract Treatment
After I’ve slathered my hair in a mask, it’s time to do the same with my face – although with a different product of course! My go to mask at the moment is the fabulous Clear Improvements* from Origins, which I’ve completely fallen in love with. This is a lovely thick, luxurious mask that clears out pore-clogging impurities for a deep-down clean. Due to this mask containing clay, it does dry quite hard but once rinsed off my skin feels as smooth as a baby’s bum. I’ve heard so many great things about Origin’s masks and this one definitely lives up to its hype, giving a great deep clean without stripping my skin, which can often be the case with pore clearing masks. If you’re looking to try this mask, these ‘To Go’ sets are perfect, at only £8 they contain 4 pods, each of which is enough for a single mask. Great for finding out if the product works with your skin, or equally as good for travelling and popping one into your makeup bag. Other face masks I love using for pampering include Soap & Glory’s The Fab Pore, LUSH’s Cupcake & Indian Healing Clay
During my pamper night, I try to leave my hair and face mask on for as long as possible, just to get the full goodness out of them – which is sometimes easier said than done. Specifically with the Aztec Indian Healing clay, which can start to feel really uncomfortable once it’s dry due to it literally pulling all of the nasties out of your pores, incredible, but slightly painful. Once I’ve sat for a while, had a cup of tea and read through a magazine or two, I’m ready to jump into the shower or bath. The majority of the time I will have a shower, as to be completely honest, I get quite bored in the bath, and it’s much easier to wash off a face mask under the shower! If I do opt for a bath, a great bubble bath or bath bomb is definitely needed. Of course, LUSH do the best bath bombs out there, my favourites including Honey Bee and Dragons Egg.
If I’m not opting for a bath bomb, a bubble bath is my other definite choice. This Calm One, Calm All* bubble bath from Soap & Glory is a great example of a fantastic bath product. Not only does it produce lovely bubbles in the bath and smell amazing, it also contains body lotion, allowing you to skip that step out of your routine.
If I’m not feeling for a bath that day, or have a particularly stubborn face mask (Indian Healing Clay specifically…) then a shower is the best choice. I love to use a really nice, indulgent shower gel during my pamper evening, and I have a lot of those to chose from! My top 3 at the moment include two from LUSH – Flying Fox & the highly sought after Snow Fairy, as well as Soap & Glory’s Rich & Foamous*
After getting out of the bath or shower I normally want to hop into my PJ’s straight away and get comfy so moisturising can often get left out of my routine. I hate standing around looking like a fool whilst waiting for my cream to dry but these problems have become a thing of the past since trying out Palmer’s Moisture Body Spray Lotion. This is a moisturising body lotion in the form of a spray, which definitely is a bit gimmicky, but I don’t actually care – I love it. This is perfect for lazy people like myself, you just spray it on, rub it in and your done. It dries very quickly and doesn’t leave any weird or greasy residue afterwards – perfeeecttt.
Once I’m snuggled in my PJ’s the last step in my pamper routine is to give my nails a good seeing to. I’ve been biting my nails ever since I can remember, and it’s only in the last 2 months or so I’ve actually stopped, and have real nails for the first time in my life. Due to this they’re extremely brittle and very weak, so I’ve been using Sally Hansen’s Hard As Nails strengthener, which has been working out great for me.
Once I’m all pampered out, I’m normally ready to get into bed and binge on some more Netflix, or YouTube videos. If I’m feeling particularly tired I’ll spritz some of the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray onto my pillow, to help me sleep. This spray has the most soothing, calming lavender scent which I absolutely love, and really helps to put me into a deep sleep, it honestly does work!
So that’s it for my pampering routine, a big thanks to Victoria Plum who provided me with some of the goodies you’ve seen in this post to help me relax and unwind! If you haven’t had a pampering evening in recently, I would highly recommend giving it a go, you’ll definitely feel better for it in the morning!
I would love to hear all about your pampering routines or relaxing evenings in the comments! Have you tried anything I’ve mentioned in this post? Happy pampering!!
