Review & Swatches: Revlon Colorbust Balms

This week at work turned out to be a very stressful one, so what better way to cheer myself up than a spot of retail therapy in my break. Of course, this idea led me into the huge Boots that is just around the corner, and like many beauty bloggers, it is pretty much impossible for me to leave Boots without adding a lot of items into my basket.

I bought quite a few new and exciting bits, which will all be showing their faces on my blog sometime this month, but first up are my favourite items from my mini haul and they are the beautiful Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm’s.

Before I went into Boots, I had a quick check on the app, and saw there was a £2 off Revlon coupon, which I loaded up onto my advantage card. You can hear more about the Boots app by reading my ‘What’s on my iPhone’ post, HERE.

I had previously been treated by my friend to two of the Revlon Matte Balms quite a while ago, and completely fell in love. So when I saw that Revlon had 2 for £10 on lip products, I had to snap some further shades up.

I left Boots with 4 more of the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms, so now in my collection I have the following shades;
001 – HONEY
205 – ELUSIVE
225 – SULTRY
230 – COMPLEX
235 – MISCHIEVOUS
250 – STANDOUT

Often, a worry with matte balms are that they will dry out your lips and leave them looking patchy. I can definitely say that this absolutely not the case with these balms, they are super moisturising and have a delicious minty smell. All of these balms are super easy to apply and don’t tug or pull at your lips.

Honey isn’t actually one of the matte balms, but a ‘Revlon ColorStay Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain’, phewww what a name! I thought I would include it in this post as well, since it’s very similar just doesn’t have the matte effect once applied. Honey isn’t as pigmented is the others, but is a beautiful my lips but better shade, which, like the others, is really moisturising and also smells of mint.

My favourite of all of the shades is 225 – Sultry which is a deep dusty rose, with great colour pay off. You only need one swipe of this, the colour is so pigmented and stays without smudging for a long time!

Overall, I absolutely love these matte balms and will definitely be picking up the other shades in the collection when I get a chance. Have you tried this balms? Which are your favourite?

  • I’m going to have a better look at these next time I’m in Boots. I’ve avoided them as I thought they might dry out my lips but I’m glad to read they don’t. Sultry and Elusive are really lovely shades. I’ve got two of Revlon’s Lacquer Balms which I absolutely love so I’m sure I’ll get on well with the matte ones 🙂 x
