The last couple of weeks in England, the weather has been crazy, with highs of 32ºc and then random huge thunderstorms! When it does get super hot, a full face of make-up is an absolute no no. I have some summer makeup essentials which when it heats up, I can’t be without and that’s what I thought I would tell you about today.
Currently, I’m quite tanned which means my normal liquid foundation in the light shade of ‘Vanilla’ is definitely not coming out, and since the humidity and heat, liquid foundation is never a good idea anyway! So, at the moment, I’m opting to use Bourjois’ BB Bronzing cream which I really didn’t expect to love as much as I do. It comes in one ‘universal shade’ and smells absolutely delicious. From the bottle it looks as if it would be super dark, but once blended in, it works really well with my tanned skin. It doesn’t give a full coverage, but that’s not what BB creams are for, however, it does even my skin tone and banishes any redness. It also claims to prolong tan and contains SPF 15 which is always a good thing when you are in the sun. I team this up with Bourjois’ Maxi Delight Bronzer for a lovely sun kissed look which won’t melt away in the sun!
In the summer I keep Maybelline’s Matte Maker powder to hand at all times. I have recommended this to so many people now and everyone I have spoken to loves it! Just a quick brush off this over the top of any make-up or alone, banishes any shine and mattifies your makeup, perfect for in the heat when you get a little shiny!
E.L.F’s Eye Refresh is perfect in the heat especially for anyone that suffers with hayfeaver or puffy eyes. The cooling sensation of the roller ball under my eyes is lovely and refreshing. It is infused with Pomegranate, Rosemary, Green Tea, Cucumber and Grape to hydrate and nourish the delicate eye area. For a quick boost of colour, I have recently been using Clinque’s Chubby Stick in ‘Super Strawberry’, it is lovely and moisturising and gives a nice summer shine to my lips.
To keep my make up on the for the day, I use Max Factor’s Facefinity All Day Primer. Normally I would opt for a silicone based primer such as Smashbox’s Photo Finish but in the heat I feel like this clogs up my skin and doesn’t let it breathe. Facefinity contains added micro correctors which absorb sweat and oil, which make it perfect for summer use and gives a matte non-shiny finish. I also use E.L.F’s Makeup Mist & Set as this helps to keep my makeup in place but is also super refreshing once sprayed onto your face. It contains Aloe, Green Tea, Cucumber and Vitamins A, C & E.
If you would like me to do a full review on any of the items on the post please let me know! What are your summer beauty/make up essentials? Is there anything you think I’m missing from mine?
