The newest addition to my beauty box subscription addiction is the you beauty discovery box. I had never previously heard of this box, until scouring other peoples beauty blogs I stumbled across it and decided to sign up straight away. The you beauty discovery box is generally a lot cheaper than standard beauty box subscriptions. You beauty is currently £6.95 a month with postage and packing included, which is very cheap compared to the likes of glossybox and birchbox which are around £12/13.
This box does contain a lot smaller and contains less products, but regardless it is a good way to get into subscription boxes if you cannot afford to fork out some of the higher prices. Each month you beauty open their “short list”, which contains a load of products, you get to pick two products from the list, which you will be sent a long with a couple of extras. Unfortunately I signed up to this way too late this month, and all the products I would have chosen were sold out, so my box isn’t as good as I would have liked but I only have myself to blame.
The May 2014 short list included;
> Philip Kingsley Elasticizer 40ml
> Percy & Reed Eau My Goodness Shine & Fragrance Spray 50ml

Percy & Reed (50ml) Eau My Goodness Shine & Fragrance Spray, RRP £22 for 100ml
This was my first pick from the list of items that were available, unfortunately the main bits I did want were all out of stock otherwise my choices would have been very different! I had never heard of fragrance spray for your hair and that was mainly why I picked this product. It’s a great little size to keep in your handbag, and will leave your hair smelling lovely and shiny in a couple of seconds. I love the look of this product, it’s such a lovely design and it really reflects the smell of the spray. It is meant to smell like an ‘English Garden’, so has notes of; Rhubarb, Rose , Peony, Geranium, Wood and Honey. It’s a great addition to my hair care products, but for £22 its definitely not a necessity.
Glamglow (10g) Supermud Clearing Treatment, RRP 34g for £44.99
This was my second choice from the choices this month, I chose this because of the description which completely drew me in. “This formula was clinically developed to help fight all common skin concerns including breakouts, discolouration, black and white heads, razor bumps and in-grown hair… it works to magnetically draw out dirt and pores with activated-x charcoal, leaving skin smooth and healthy looking”. It’s a very thick consistency, with some tiny lumps in it. It comes out of the tube as a dark grey/black colour but dries a lighter grey colour on your skin. After using this mask my skin felt super smooth and my makeup went on a lot nicer. I really enjoyed using this mask as it didn’t leave my skin feeling dry and tight after using it. I would buy this again, but the price does put me off! Please comment if you know of any other great masks that are slightly more in a regular teenagers budget! (PS. sorry about the awful photo of my blotchy hand!)
The other items I received in my box included the granola, which I passed on to my younger sister as she was on a strict healthy eating regime, and I have to admit the other two samples I got are lying in a box in my beauty cupboard at home. I’m really not a fan of sachet samples as I make such a mess with them, but maybe one day they will get used!
I was very impressed with my you beauty box, even though I bought it when most of the bits I wanted were out of stock, I received two lovely items both which I wouldn’t have purchased separately without this box. I think that is the best part of subscribing to beauty boxes, is that you discover brands and products that you never knew existed and that otherwise you wouldn’t normally buy. you beauty is definitely a thumbs up for me, and I will keep my subscription going, just hopefully next month I will be a bit earlier choosing the items. Let me know if you have subscribed to you beauty and what items you received!
