YOU BEAUTY DISCOVERY JUNE 2014 REVIEW

My second you beauty discovery box has arrived! The excitement I feel every time I receive a subscription box is getting out of hand. I came in from work yesterday at about 1am (I work silly shifts), and saw a load of packages waiting for me and had to open them and photograph them right there and then regardless of the fact I really should of been in bed! If you read my you beauty review from last month (here) you will know that unfortunately I missed out on all the best goodies by ordering rather late, although I was still very impressed with the box. This month I ordered my you beauty items as soon as they June picks were up, everything was available so I was able to take a good look and pick my favourite items.

If you aren’t familiar with you beauty, it is a subscription beauty box service much like glossybox etc, but with a major difference, you are able to pick your products from the ‘short list’. Each month the you beauty short list will open, allowing you to pick 2 products. You will receive these two products along with 2-3 extra gifts, delivered for only £6.95! I personally think it’s a really great subscription box, especially if you would like to start getting beauty subscription boxes but don’t want to pay out the £12ish for glossybox, birchbox etc. Be sure to pick your items as quick as you can though as they do go out of stock very quickly!

L’oreal Paris: Infallible 24h Lip Colour (110 Timeless Rose) 26g

This was the first product I chose from the June list. I  absolutely love new lip colours but I am really bad at swabing the product in shops, I can never tell if I’m actually going to like it until I’ve put it on my lips. Therefore I have a big issue with buying a lot of lipsticks that I don’t actually like. Any chance I get to try a new lip product out I will be straight there, so I was really happy to see this in the you beauty June list. I opted for the ‘Timeless Rose’ colour rather than the ‘Flawless Fuscia’, and I am really happy I did. One end of the product is the ‘base colour’ and the other end is ‘conditioning balm’ When I first put the lip colour(?) on, I actually said “oh wow” out loud, the applicator is possibly one of the best I have ever used, it fitted my lips perfectly, and was so easy to apply. Definitely easier than any other lip gloss type product I have used before. I then waited for the colour to dry and used the conditioning balm over the top. I have to say this combination worked really well for me and I am very pleasantly surprised. The colour itself is lovely, it has a slight shimmer to it but not too much to look like I think I am at a 90’s school disco. I may well purchase this in another one of the colours, considering this product retails at £9.99 in the UK, and the box was £6.95 including delivery, I have already ‘made’ my money back with one item!

This item was my second pick for my you beauty box this month, my hair has become really dry and damaged recently, even more than usual, so I have been on the lookout recently for a lovely product that would attempt to restore my hair. When I saw this in the box I definitely had to order it and give it a go. The little book that comes with the you beauty box explained that… ‘in just 300 seconds (5 minutes) natural plant extracts including Shea Butter, Olive and wheat protein penetrate the hair to rebuild, strengthen and moisturise from within. The Trecento Treatment creates a protective layer to restore resilience, strength and elasticity to minimise frizz, enhancing health and shine”. These seem like very bold claims, but exactly what my hair is needing! I haven’t been able to test this out yet as I only received the box at 1am this morning and I have been working a 12 hour shift today! You beauty have also added a 15% coupon code for this product, so if it is a good as it appears then I will definitely have to purchase the full sized version, after all I do love a coupon! This hair treatment retails for £30 for a 200ml pot, therefore this little sample would be worth around £11. Another great edition to a box that only cost under £7!

Montagne Jeunesse: Dead Sea Mud Spa Face Masque

This product was one of the extra gifts from you beauty this month. Doesn’t everyone love a face mask? I haven’t used this particulary mask before but I have used the brand so I’m sure it will be just as good as the others. Great to put away for a lazy pampering Sunday!

Pink Heart-Shaped Expandable Face Cloth

I was literally about to buy a new little face cloth that I could take on holiday with me, and pink is my favourite colour, good timing! Its a really cute pink heart shaped face cloth that expands in water, so perfect for travelling. Again, who doesn’t love a new face cloth? Everyone needs them, so a great little added item from you beauty!

So that’s it from you beauty this month! Overall I am very impressed with this little box, I have to keep reminding myself that it cost less than £7 to be delivered! I would definitely recommend this box to anyone, but be sure to get in there early so you can pick the products you want without being disappointed. If you are subscribed, what did you think of the box this month? (if you aren’t subscribed… why not??)
